Two Toned

Week four: This week felt 'just right' as if my head was screwed on and everything was where it needed to be; which isn't a regular occurrence for me, as usually I'm running late or uncomfortably early, and things appear as needed or is convenient, so to be collected and punctual for once was an experience to say the least.

Lately my focus has been fixed on painting in oil (my old foe) which has been bringing me more excitement than I could have imagined! The painting above, 'The Florida Gar' 12X48" oil on wood pannel, a product of that excitement of communicating with the oil medium. The last few days have been an ongoing adventure in the "Quest for Whimsy" as one painting came to a close and two more bubbled up to the surface! I've been in a constant fever of fixation, mixing colors to horizons never known before to man, inventing new subjects and destinations for them to land - worlds are being built! Discoveries untold! Uncharted terretories! ....atleast for me!

As for the immediate forcast, I'm looking at tackling two new paintings head on, my very own 'surf and turf'! Contestant one, keeping with the aquatic theme; a 36X36" canvas of collaged images taken at the aquarium in my hometown. Contestant two, a 36X48" canvas capturing a scene from my 'everyday life' and including the cats felt like the right idea!

So onward we venture! Into the week (or more) of the two toned canvases! I've got a good feeling about this :)
